Roger Edrington bio of Urban Champions
Dr. Roger Edrington served as Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church for over a decade. He also served as Executive Vice President and Director of Multi-Cultural Education for William Jessup University for 16 years while it was located in San Jose and spearheaded the move to its new campus in Rocklin, CA, where the university has expanded its curriculum and grown in influence. He now serves on the board of William Jessup University. While in San Jose, this university developed a unique program for emerging leaders of many ethnic groups, using six first languages for teaching, as well as English.
Previously, Dr. Edrington ministered in England for 12 years, “resurrecting dying churches.” He has also served as a Consultant to Food For The Hungry International during the devastating Ethiopian famine which captured the world’s attention in 1984-85. He was an invited participant to three international congresses of the Lausanne Movement for World Evangelization. He was a part of the initial vision and establishment of Springdale College, a theological college for ministers and lay persons in Birmingham, England.
He holds a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Birmingham, England; M.Div. in Theology and Philosophy from Lincoln (IL) Christian Seminary; and B.A. in Christian Ministry from Lincoln (IL) Christian College.
He has been married to his wife Ricky for 28 years. They have a 26 year-old son, Byron, who is married to Jessica and they live in Lincoln, CA.
Roger is excited about working with Urban Champions because of the unique vision of its founder and executive director, Vince McCastle. This empowerment program will influence the lives of many at-risk students and help them refocus and set directions that will build them not just for sports but for LIFE.
